Some say home is where the heart is

Discover What Makes a House Feel Like Home

What makes a house a home? Is it the people inside, the memories, the food, the animals, or the location? It’s a lot of different things. Sometimes, it’s simply what you believe it to be. There are times when where you live never feels like home. In contrast, when you go out exploring; you might feel more at home than you do within the walls of your own house.

So, what can you do to make your house feel like a home? One way is to cook wholesome foods, inspired by rich flavors and energy, packed with nutritional properties. When you prepare meals filled with love, you nourish yourself and those around you, as the rich aromas mingle through the air. The scent droplets disperse, sneaking away from your home into others, reminding us how we are all connected.

Even if we don’t realize it, we are all linked in a spider web of various sensations. So, is connection the biggest thing that makes a house a home? Is it the connection you feel to the food you’re cooking? To the people you’re inviting in? Or perhaps it’s the connection to the covers of your bed as you pull them over yourself, taking a deep breath, reflecting on your day, and releasing your thoughts as you drift off to sleep.

Connect yourself with the nature around your home

The Essential Connected Community

In many ways, everything comes back to connection and feeling connected. Making a house a home is about creating something whole—something that feels wholesome to you. Wholesomeness, in this sense, means connecting different elements together.

One of the best ways to make your house a home is to fill your walls with the connections that make your heartstrings strum. How do you do that? There are many ways. You can decorate with art that resonates with you, or you could create your own by collaborating with a local artist [book a call with me here] to create you beautiful pieces that represent your legacy. As if you want to focus on preserving all those beautiful connections to you— they are inadvertently what also makes up your legacy. Have you ever noticed that those who leave beautiful heartwarming legacies behind them, are often those who created a special atmosphere in their home for as many people to enjoy; often with an open door philosophy.

It’s those people who have touched our lives deeply that are also a strong part of our legacy, by planting the seeds of various values & nurturing them with the warmth of how they connected to our heart. Our inspirations to take the experiences that made us feel at home to grow them into our own. I love legacy artwork because there are so many roads, avenues, & side streets that make up your legacy map. Creating art that surrounds what inspires our legacy is one of the most beautiful tributes you can create, in my humble opinion.

Connection is akin to the joy of a young child, for joy grows from a feeling of connectedness to ones environment

Legacy Artwork: Preserving Connections That Define Your Home

I deeply understand the importance of all that we’ve talked about. My work goes way past simple photography; I facilitate beautiful memories and thoughts about what wholesome living means for us. The photo shoot experiences and the art we create together can be the missing pieces in your home, fulfilling all the daily connections that keep you going.

What we do together is create family heirlooms. Family heirlooms are also strong aspects of your legacy as they often tell deep & rich stories of connection & how things came to be.

Simply taking your photos isn’t what creates the family heirloom. It’s the energy, the moments, the thoughts, the love, & the delicate delivery of storytelling through art.

Imagine proudly displaying these pieces on your walls, drawing inspiration from them during your darkest moments. You’ll be constantly reminded of your bright light, making your home a safe haven filled with warmth and inspiration. A free consultation is simply just a click away!

Capturing Transitions With Lasting Memories

I often work with clients who are transitioning through homes—buying or selling. This is a fantastic time to book a photoshoot, whether to capture final memories in your old place or to create new ones in your new home.

Sometimes, rewarding yourself with a bucket list day expedition photoshoot; like whale watching or a BC backcountry helicopter trip, to celebrate your accomplishment of selling or purchasing a home.

If you’re looking to buy or sell, one of my favourite realtors to work with who services Lower Mainland areas like North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, to even the luxurious BC Interior like Kamloops— is Tom Ikonomou. Through our connected conversations I have full trust that there is good reason that he is one of the leading realtors for these areas.

The epitome of transition— a photo of my daughter and I on the steps of my childhood home. A powerful piece to complement my story.
